Albay Governor Edcel “Grex” Lagman assured that the Peñaranda Park Improvement Project will continue as planned as he shut down rumors that its funds have been misused.
“This post is with regard to the Peñaranda Park Improvement Project. Firstly, I would like to assure everyone that said project is progressing as planned,” said Lagman.
The governor explained that funds for the initiative are managed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the project’s implementation is in line with the Provincial Government of Albay’s timetable.
“Addressing concerns that the project might be discontinued, I affirm my administration’s commitment to the continuity of beneficial projects regardless of their origin,” said Lagman.
“There is no room for petty politics in the pursuit of good governance measures,” he added.
“The improvement of Peñaranda Park is a priority infrastructure project and its eventual completion is vital for the well-being of the communities it serves,” he continued.
He also stressed that the DPWH controls and disburses the budget of the project.
“Regarding the insinuation from some quarters about the misuse of funds by the PGA, I want to clarify that the funds are directly controlled and disbursed solely by the DPWH,” the governor said.
“Therefore, innuendoes about fund misplacement and misappropriation are irresponsible simply because they have no factual and/or legal bases,” he added.
Lagman likewise reaffirmed his commitment to the transparent and responsible execution of the project.
