This National Heroes Day, Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Alfredo Garbin paid tribute not only to the country’s historical heroes but also to modern-day Filipinos, such as OFWs, teachers, and laborers.
In his message, Garbin said the occasion is a reminder of the courage and sacrifices of national heroes who fought for the country’s freedom, while also recognizing ordinary Filipinos who continue to face daily challenges for their families and communities.
The lawmaker highlighted the contributions of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), teachers, healthcare workers, laborers, public servants, and family breadwinners, describing them as the country’s modern heroes.
“Ang tunay na kabayanihan ay makikita sa pang-araw-araw ninyong pagsusumikap,” he said.
“Sa ating mga OFWs na tinitiis ang layo sa pamilya para magbigay ng magandang kinabukasan,” he said.
He also recognized teachers, healthcare workers, workers, and public servants for their dedicated service to the Filipino people.
The legislator likewise gave special recognition to solo parents, mothers, and breadwinners who continue to face economic hardships while providing for their families.
