Legazpi City Mayor Hisham Ismail thanked the Republic of South Korea for providing food assistance to more than 3,000 fisherfolk and their families affected by adverse weather conditions brought about by the shear line.
Ismail said that the beneficiaries will be receiving rice through the distribution of 400 metric tons of milled rice provided under the ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve (APTERR) Tier 3 Program.
“Buong pusong nagpapasalamat ang LGU Legazpi sa pamahalaan ng Republic of Korea sa ipinagkaloob na 400 Metric Tons ng Milled Rice sa ilalim ng ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve (APTERR) Tier 3 Program,” he said.
Ismail said that the assistance is intended for fisherfolk families who have been among the most affected sectors during bad weather, when fishing activities are often suspended.
“Ang mahalagang tulong na ito ay nakalaan para sa mahigit 3,000 mangingisda at kanilang mga pamilya sa Legazpi na naapektuhan ng mga pag-uulan, malalaking alon, at masamang panahon dulot ng Shear Line,” said Ismail.
“Malaking suporta ito upang masiguro ang seguridad sa pagkain at maiparamdam ang alaga sa ating mga kababayang mangingisda habang pinalilipas ang masamang panahon,” he added.
The mayor also acknowledged the agencies and partners that helped facilitate the distribution of the rice assistance, highlighting the collaborative effort behind the program.
“Taos-pusong pasasalamat sa ating mga katuwang sa serbisyo—sina Dr. Choomjet Karnjanakesorn (General Manager ng APTERR at Kinatawan ng Korean Embassy), ang National Food Authority (NFA), ang DSWD – National Resource & Logistics Management Bureau, at si Asec. Leo L. Quintilla ng DSWD Office V. Salamat din po sa CSWDO at sa City Agriculture Office,” he said.
